What is Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)?
NMT is an anatomically precise form of Clinical Massage which finds and releases trigger points (“knots”) in muscles and tendons which cause pain and tension in the body. It is a highly efficient and effective modality for pain reduction.
It also works with fascial patterns of posture and movement to help return the body to a neutral state. These patterns develop over time and/or result from injury such as an ankle sprain.
During a session with me, after a check in conversation about what’s going on in your body and self, we begin by assessing patterns of tension with broad gentle hands on pressure. Usually sessions incorporate myofascial release and trigger point therapy with some deep tissue techniques to flush and relax muscles. While my treatments are not relaxation massages, relaxation and embodiment are always goals of my work and my clients leave feeling relaxed, mobile, and with significantly reduced or relieved pain.
